Composite profiles for multi-day balance
Single-session profiles miss the shelf that has trapped inventory for a week. Composite builds reveal it — carefully.
A composite profile merges volume across sessions you decide belong together. The decision is the hard part.
When composites help
During multi-day balance, combining sessions shows a thicker high-volume region that individual days only hint at. Breakouts that finally leave that composite value deserve extra confirmation — the market has practiced defending the same area repeatedly.
When composites mislead
Gluing a trend day onto three balance days smears the profile. You invent a “node” that never existed as a single auction. In class we require a written reason for the date range: “balance from Tuesday open through Thursday close after Monday’s trend day closed outside.”
Desk tip
Draw the composite on paper first with session boundaries marked. Software will merge anything you feed it; paper forces you to justify the merge before you trust a level for breakout validation.
